Bangladesh - Women's components of the population project and the second population and family health project : case studies (Английский)

This report reviews the women's components of the two population projects in Bangladesh. There is a small women's component, supporting three programs which are already operational and expanding them to include family planning elements. The three programs are 1) women's cooperatives, 2) mothers' clubs, and 3) women's vocational training. The operational objectives of the women's components were stated primarily in terms of family planning targets and of establishing the required infrastructure to carry out the program. In these terms all three aforementioned programmes met or exceeded their targets. It is believed that population growth is directly correlated to the status and opportunities of women and that family planning will be adopted by women who see its relationship to other aspects of their lives. Each of the programs attracted many women and surpassed its family planning target.
