Estructura del comercio, politica comercial y opciones de politica economica en Centroamerica (Испанский)

This paper examines the main trends in the trade structure of Central American countries during the last two decades; the increasingly important role placed by the United Status as a main trade partner; the effect of national trade policies; and the effect of NAFTA and recent events in regard to the agricultural and trade policies of the U.S. The contents include: introduction; trade structure; trade policies; the trade relationship between the United States and Central America - obstacles and opportunities; and Central America and the United States - beyond trade. The paper concludes by delineating the fiscal and institutional implications resulting from certain trade policies and from the choice of certain exchange regimes.
