The relationship between globalization and poverty reduction and development is not well understood. The authors describe major historical tendencies, identify global currents--like trade, capital, migration, aid, and ideas, and acknowledge how each of these can either contribute to or diminish economic development. The report offers recommendations on policies to aid globalization in becoming a more effective vehicle for spreading growth and prosperity.
