Waste management is an emerging issue in Lao PDR that requires further understanding. Due to rapid urbanization and economic development, coupled with an increasing number of yearly tourists, solid waste amounts are rising. At the same time, current waste management practices are inadequate and cause a variety of environmental, social, and economic impacts.
