Tonga is one of the Pacific Island Countries (PICs) with high tobacco consumption prevalence. Smokers get younger; the prevalence of tobacco use among school children has increased. Tonga has some of the strongest tobacco tax policies of any Pacific country. On the tax structure, it is recommended that commercialized Tapaka Tonga should be subject to excise tax, too.
